Bristol Bombers played only friendlies and controlled scrimmage games during their existence, including their first competitive controlled scrimmage at Plymouth Admirals and a full friendly at Walthamstow Warriors (later to become Lee Valley Warriors) in 1985. Bristol lost both games, although they scored their first-ever touchdown to lead at Walthamstow 6-0 after James Williams successfully returned the kick-off for a TD. The Bombers eventually lost the game 6-60! After securing the services of a handfull of USAF Airmen from nearby RAF Fairford, the Bombers enjoyed some success and won several matches during their second season in 1986.
